Prayer and Devotions

Regular Public Acts of Worship have been suspended but please make use of the resources offered at the foot of this page.

At the heart of our faith as Catholics is our life of prayer. Without the daily raising of our mind and heart to God our faith withers and dies. People find that time given to prayer enriches and strengthens and allows us to grow. We have the need to maintain openness in a personal relationship with God but we also appreciate the value of uniting with others in prayer.

  • In our parish HOLY MASS is celebrated on Sundays, Holy Days and most weekdays as advertised on the Home page and Calendar.

  • The ROSARY of Our Lady is recited after the weekday Masses.

  • The PRAYER GROUP gathers in praise, thanksgiving and petition every other week on a Monday evening as advertised in the Calendar.

  • EXPOSITION OF THE BLESSED SACRAMENT takes place on Friday before the evening Mass as advertised in the Calendar.

  • As a Salesian parish we celebrate our patron saints and prepare for their feast days by NOVENAS of prayer. The principal feast days we prepare to celebrate in this way are, the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary (Dec 8th), St John Bosco (Jan 31st) and Our Lady Help of Christians (May 24th). All the novena prayers can be downloaded using the links at the foot of this page.

  • During the season of Lent, we follow the STATIONS OF THE CROSS on Friday evening as advertised in the Calendar.

  • The statue of OUR LADY OF FATIMA is available to bring to your home. Why not gather your neighbours to pray in honour of our Lady and to ask her intercession?

  • We are blessed with a CHURCH building and DAY CHAPEL – holy places where we can pause before the Blessed Sacrament and hear the gentle presence of the Lord rising in our hearts. Thankfully the church remains open most days for us to make a short visit to pray and be still in the midst of our hectic lives.

  • We are also UNITED with the members of our parish who are carrying the cross of sickness and infirmity. Their prayer in suffering is a powerful source of sustenance for us all. We ask the Lord to bring them healing and consolation.

  • Our church is decorated with a beautiful mosaic of the Crucifixion. Several years ago, former Parish Priest, Fr Kieran Anderson SDB prepared REFLECTIONS UPON A CRUCIFIED CHRIST reproduced for us here.

The parish is part of the Archdiocese of Birmingham: Registered Charity No. 234216
